H.E.Ibrahim AI Jallaf说。
2023年8月,奈飞(Netflix)推出了一部纪录片《长命百岁:蓝色宝地的奥秘》(Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones)。
If you come across a group of people on the street wearing gloves, carrying trash bags, and picking up litter while running, don’t be surprised because they are doing “Plogging.” Plogging combines the Swedish words for “picking up” (plocka) and “jogging” (jogga).
A Swede named Erik lived in a small town in northern Sweden for many years. In 2016, he made a bold decision to move back to the capital, Stockholm, as he had grown tired of small-town life. To his surprise, upon arriving in the capital, he was shocked by what he saw: plastic bottles floating in the rivers, garbage bags flying through the air, and more litter on the streets than he had ever seen before. “It really looked like a garbage dump!” he thought.
Faced with the environmental pollution in the city, Erik felt disappointed. At the same time, he wondered, “Maybe I need to do something about this?” Erik was in the habit of going for runs, so he started trying to pick up litter while jogging. What began as an experiment slowly became a routine. From then on, whenever he went for a run, a trash bag and gloves became Erik’s trademark, and he encouraged his friends to join him in “jogging while picking up trash.”
After finishing their run, some even opened up their trash bags and had competitions with their friends to see who had collected the most litter. Others posted photos of their trash collection on social media, and Plogging quickly became a hot topic.
Plogging not only helps improve the environment, but it’s also beneficial for people’s health, making it a win-win activity. The action of picking up trash resembles doing squats and can effectively strengthen the leg muscles. According to fitness app data, regular jogging burns around 235 calories per hour, while Plogging can burn approximately 288 calories per hour.
Plogging, being both eco-friendly and healthy, has attracted increasing media attention, with many well-known outlets reporting on it. Now, more and more people are aware of Plogging, and even some who aren’t fans of running have started trying it out.
